Banijay Kids & Family has acquired the global distribution rights to the upcoming adult animated series adaptation of the popular webcomic Belzebubs, which boasts a massive worldwide fanbase.

Co-produced by Finland’s Pyjama Films, Barcelona-based Mago Production, and Banijay’s Italian prodco Movimenti Production, the 13-episode dark comedy mockumentary is currently in production for Finnish pubcaster YLE and TV3 in Catalonia. The project has already made a strong international debut, securing pre-sales with broadcasters in Iceland and Czechia ahead of its screen premiere.

Adapted from the work of renowned Finnish comic artist JP Ahonen, the black-and-white animated series seamlessly blends domestic comedy with heavy metal satire. The story follows a well-meaning stay-at-home dad striving to balance his unconventional family’s everyday chaos with his ambitious goals as the frontman of a heavy metal band.

While the comic book rights have already been sold to over 20 countries and the real-life virtual band’s music videos have racked up millions of views on YouTube, these animated adventures will come to life with a talented English voice cast. Banijay Kids & Family is set to present this highly anticipated new series to international buyers at the Mifa market in Annecy next week.
