In the June issue of Episode Magazine, Burcu Asena Şahin Gençoğlu spoke with Erdem Tepegöz, the director of Prime Video‘s new production Summer House, which takes us back to the 90s, and its cast members Mina Demirtaş, Derya Pınar Ak, Onur Seyit Yaran, and Nehir Erdoğan.

The 90s… Those beautiful years that linger in the eyes of many of us, warming our hearts as we remember them, appearing all the more bright and sheltered through the lens of nostalgia. The neighborhood culture, those endless hot summers, and that naivety unique to a time when life did not yet flow this fast hold a truly special place in our hearts.

The film, which meets the audience on Prime Video screens, is an extraordinary production centered around a theme rarely dared in Turkish cinema, time travel, while building upon exactly these familiar feelings.

Who among us wouldn’t want to rewind time and take a distant look at our families’ versions at our current age, back in their completely unknown youth? Witnessing their first big loves, their stumbles, their hopes for life that hadn’t yet been broken, and the world they grew up in does not just offer a fantastic adventure; it also opens the door to a timeless and deep intergenerational bond.

The film both whispers the forgotten scent of old summer housing complexes to the audience and seeks the emotional answer to the question, “How did we become who we are?”

Directed by Erdem Tepegöz, the production brings together prominent names such as Mina Demirtaş (Selin), Derya Pınar Ak (Young Zeynep), Onur Seyit Yaran (Young Sinan), Selma Ergeç (Zeynep), Nehir Erdoğan (Sevinç), Çağdaş Onur Öztürk (Sinan), and Kamil Güler (Tanju), seamlessly building a bridge between eras through its acting performances.

We listened to the curiosities of this emotionally charged project, the worlds of the characters, and the excitement of rebuilding the 90s from the film’s director Erdem Tepegöz and actors Mina Demirtaş, Derya Pınar Ak, Onur Seyit Yaran, and Nehir Erdoğan.

Here are those special, enjoyable-to-read interviews we conducted with the Summer House team…
