After nearly two years since the first season premiered, Mr. & Mrs. Smith has undergone significant changes.
Season 2 will not star Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, however, Glover will continue to be part of the project behind the camera. The new season will be led by Mark Eydelshteyn and Sophie Thatcher.
Another major creative shift has taken place, with Severance and Beef writer-producer Anna Ouyang Moench taking over as showrunner from Francesca Sloane. The change coincides with the conclusion of Sloane’s overall deal with Amazon MGM.
The filming for Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 2 is set to begin in the upcoming months. Under the previous showrunner, Lily-Rose Depp, Francesca Scorsese, Wagner Moura, and Gael García Bernal were reportedly considered for guest roles, though it remains unclear whether they are still attached.
Amazon MGM praised Anna Ouyang Moench for her character-driven storytelling and emotional depth.
