Netflix’s period drama Bad Bridgets has expanded its already impressive cast with several high-profile names joining the project.

The new additions include Colin Farrell, Steve Coogan, Charlie Heaton, Domhnall Gleeson, Himesh Patel, Niamh Algar, and Simone Kirby, further strengthening an ensemble that is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most ambitious recent line-ups.

Directed by Rich Peppiatt, Bad Bridgets film is being positioned as a major historical drama for the platform, with production support from Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap, alongside other partners. The story is inspired by the book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women, and explores the harsh realities faced by Irish women who emigrated to North America in the 19th century.

At its core, the narrative follows a young Irish woman who arrives in New York after being drawn by the promise of a new life, only to find herself navigating a chaotic and often unforgiving world. The term “Bad Bridget” refers to impoverished Irish female migrants who, in their struggle to survive, were frequently pushed into crime or marginalised roles in both the United States and Canada.

Filming is expected to begin in July 2026, with locations set across Ireland and Northern Ireland, adding an authentic backdrop to the period setting. The project is being described as a high-profile Netflix production, combining a strong literary adaptation with a large ensemble cast and experienced creative team.
