Beta Film has closed several key European deals for its premium Spanish drama slate, led by writer, director, and actress Leticia Dolera’s series Pubertat – Secrets, Lies, and Human Castles and the multi-award-winning dramedy Perfect Life.

European public service broadcasters ARTE and SWR have acquired Pubertat, with ARTE set to premiere the series in early 2026 and SWR later in the year. ARTE has also picked up Perfect Life, further strengthening its lineup of high-end European drama.

Pubertat, which premiered at the 2025 San Sebastián Film Festival, recently won the Spanish Ondas Award for Best Fiction Series. The six-part European drama explores fractured relationships between parents and their teenage children and the possibility of rediscovering lost bonds, set against the backdrop of Catalonia’s human tower tradition. The series is produced by Distinto Films, Corte y Confección de Películas, Uri Films, Altres Films and AT-Prod, in co-production with 3Cat and with the participation of HBO Max Spain.

The dramedy Perfect Life (14×30’) offers a sharp and humorous take on adult relationships, following three women in their 30s and 40s who find their carefully constructed lives unraveling as they reach unexpected turning points. The series is produced by Movistar Plus+ and Corte y Confección de Películas.

Beyond Dolera’s titles, German public broadcaster ARD’s free-to-air channel ONE has acquired the long-running hit Velvet along with its spin-off The Velvet Collection. Set in late 1950s Madrid, Velvet follows a sweeping romance in the world of haute couture, while The Velvet Collection continues the story in 1960s New York.

AXN White has also secured the premium crime thriller Shades for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The six-part series centers on a group of troubled patients at a remote therapy retreat whose lives are upended by a murder investigation. Shades is produced by Secuoya Studios and Stellarmedia for SkyShowtime and features a cast including Elsa Pataky, Enrique Arce and Maxi Iglesias.
