The cast for Season 3 of The Last of Us has seen major updates.
HBO has promoted Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord to series regulars, with the trio continuing to portray Mel, Nora, and Owen, respectively.
Two new additions have also joined the cast: Jason Ritter, who will play WLF soldier Hanley, and Patrick Wilson as Abby’s father, Jerry, a role that holds significant importance in the story. Interestingly, Ritter previously appeared in Season 1 in a brief, uncredited role as a Clicker, but he now returns with a fully defined character.
The Last of Us season 3 is expected to shift the narrative perspective from Ellie, portrayed by Bella Ramsey in Season 2, to Abby’s point of view.
Returning cast members include Bella Ramsey, Isabela Merced, Gabriel Luna, and Jeffrey Wright, while new additions also feature Clea DuVall as a Seraphite and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as Manny.
The Last of Us was co-created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann; however, with Druckmann departing for Season 3, Mazin will continue as the sole showrunner. The story remains centered on Joel and Ellie’s struggle for survival in a post-apocalyptic world, with Season 2 having taken place five years after the events of Season 1. Although Season 3 is rumored to potentially serve as the final season, official plot details have not yet been revealed.
