SIC’s Vitória is expanding its international footprint with a new deal in Canada. The Portuguese telenovela has been licensed to OMNI Television and is set to premiere on the Canadian channel in November.
The series will follow Broken Promise and The Last Will, which are currently airing on OMNI Television on weekday afternoons. The latest agreement further expands SIC International Distribution’s presence in the Canadian market and adds another territory to Vitória’s growing international journey.
The deal comes ahead of MIPCOM, where SIC’s international sales team will present a new version of the series. The title has been restructured into three seasons comprising 77, 39 and 24 episodes, respectively.
Vitória Adapted from Turkish Drama Gülperi
Adapted from the Turkish series Gülperi, originally produced by TIMS and distributed internationally by Global Agency, Vitória follows a mother’s fight to reunite with her children after losing both her husband and her freedom.
The story centers on Vitória, who discovers that her father-in-law, Manuel Mendonça, is a criminal prepared to do whatever it takes to maintain his power. Following her husband’s death, Vitória attempts to protect her children but is ultimately imprisoned and loses custody of them.
Two years later, she is released from prison and sets out to win her children back. With the support of João, a brilliant lawyer who is also her first love, Vitória confronts Manuel Mendonça as she fights to rebuild her family and reveal the truth.
Vitória Combines Linear and Streaming Distribution
Vitória is part of SIC International Distribution’s current catalogue and holds a notable position in the broadcaster’s distribution strategy as its first drama to launch through a multiplatform release in partnership with Disney+.
The series releases five episodes weekly on Opto and Disney+ every Sunday, ahead of their linear broadcast on SIC. The strategy reflects SIC’s approach to combining traditional television with streaming distribution while expanding the international potential of its scripted productions.
SIC Presents New Slate at MIPCOM
At MIPCOM, SIC will also showcase a wider slate of scripted and non-scripted content, including Chapters of Life, based on Pages of Life created by Manoel Carlos and licensed by TV Globo.
The company will also present Broken Promise, adapted from the Turkish format Ruthless City, alongside a selection of short-form series and factual programming.
