Scenic Rights and GECA Announce Collaboration in Hispanic Literary Adaptations Market Study

In a groundbreaking partnership, Scenic Rights and GECA have come together to embark on an extensive market study focused on the adaptation of Hispanic literary works into Films and TV series. The announcement was made within the Content Americas programme on Wednesday 24 January in Conference Room Two (Acapella 1).

Recognizing the immense value that literary works bring to the creation of audiovisual content, the collaboration aims to explore and capitalize on the potential of adapting Hispanic literary gems for the screen. The initiative comes in response to the ever-evolving landscape of the Spanish-speaking market and the growing demand for diverse and culturally rich content.

STRATEGIC MOVE FOR THE INDUSTRY

Gloria Saló, Director of Content and Production Consultancy at GECA, emphasised the importance of this collaboration, noting that literary works have proven to be invaluable sources of creativity for audiovisual productions. Noting the growing demand for diverse content, Saló said that exploring the adaptation of Hispanic literary treasures is a strategic move for the industry.

Sydney Borjas, CEO of Scenic Rights, echoed Saló’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for a dedicated space that supports and serves as a reference for industry professionals navigating the adaptation landscape. Borjas noted the need for a central hub for cooperation and knowledge sharing, with a commitment to making these literary works available to a wider audience.

PRESERVING AND PROMOTING LITERARY HERITAGE

The collaboration between GECA and Scenic Rights is expected to create a comprehensive market study that will provide insights into the potential of adapting Hispanic literary works into Films and TV series. This initiative not only reflects the commitment of both organizations to fostering cultural diversity in the entertainment industry but also acknowledges the importance of preserving and promoting literary heritage through audiovisual mediums.
