At this year’s MIP Cancun, we spoke with Ekin Koyuncu Karaman, Global Distribution & Partnership Director at OGM UNIVERSE, about the company’s highlights at the market, the strong reception of Deep in Love, and the growing interest in library hits like Broken Destiny and Lost in Love across Latin America.

How was MIP Cancun for OGM UNIVERSE?
Ekin Koyuncu Karaman: It went very well. Our meetings were busy, and the overall participation was strong. This season, we have a new series called Taşacak Bu Deniz, which we introduced internationally as Deep in Love. At MIPCOM, we only had one episode ready, but now we have six episodes and solid early performance data, so we were able to present it much more effectively.
In addition to Deep in Love, we continued showcasing Reborn, The Fall of the King, Six of Us, and Lost in Love from our library, and we’re finalizing several new agreements. We received very positive feedback across the board, so it was a successful market for us.

Which titles generate the most interest in this market?
Ekin Koyuncu Karaman: In Latin America, buyers generally prefer finished series, or series that have already aired in a few territories and proven their success. If you have a brand-new title with strong performance or a library title that has already delivered results in multiple regions, sales become much easier.
That has been the case for us as well. We licensed Broken Destiny (Toprak ile Fidan) and Lost in Love (Sakla Beni) to several Latin American territories in previous markets, and they performed extremely well. Thanks to that strong record, we are now close to closing a few additional deals for these titles at MIP Cancun.
Beyond that, we also discussed the cast of Reborn and the ratings success of Deep in Love, but in terms of library titles, Broken Destiny and Lost in Love were definitely the standout performers for us this year.
