Netflix has released the first trailer for Remarkably Bright Creatures, which is set to debut on the platform on May 8.

The film is based on the bestselling novel of the same name and brings its emotional, character-driven story to the screen.
Starring Sally Field and Lewis Pullman, Remarkably Bright Creatures follows a widowed woman working as a cleaner at a local aquarium, where she forms an unexpected and deeply affecting bond with a Giant Pacific Octopus voiced by Alfred Molina. Through this unusual friendship, the film explores themes of grief, loneliness and healing, using the connection between human and animal to uncover shared emotional truths.

Directed by Olivia Newman, the adaptation expands on the novel’s intimate tone with a warm, reflective approach. The cast also includes Joan Chen, Kathy Baker and Beth Grant, rounding out an ensemble that supports the film’s tender and uplifting narrative.
