Netflix has officially announced that development is underway for Grown Ups 3, reviving one of Adam Sandler’s most popular comedy franchises.
Produced under the ongoing partnership between Happy Madison and Netflix, the third installment will reunite the original cast after a 13-year hiatus since the last sequel. Fans can expect the return of the iconic quintet, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider, as the five childhood friends, with original cast members like Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek also expected to reprise their roles.
Behind the scenes, the project features a familiar creative team: Sandler is co-writing the script with Tim Herlihy, who also worked on Grown Ups 2, while Kyle Newacheck, the director behind Murder Mystery and Happy Gilmore 2, will take the helm. Although the first two films received notably low scores from critics, they were massive commercial hits, grossing over $500 million combined at the worldwide box office.
Unlike its predecessors, which were theatrical releases, Grown Ups 3 is being developed exclusively for the Netflix library.
