On MIPCOM 2025‘s third day, we got together with Müge Akar, ATV Distribution‘s Head of Sales, to hear the company’s thoughts on this year’s edition. In the interview, Akar has highlighted new series such as Waves of Love, Queen of Tears, Stranger in the Mirror, and The Ottoman.

How was MIPCOM 2025 for ATV Distribution?

All three days of MIPCOM 2025 were very busy for us. Our large team was constantly holding meetings with customers from different countries. At the market, we presented Waves of Love with our actors. At our new season launch on Monday, we introduced all of our series: new series such as Waves of Love, Queen of Tears, Stranger in the Mirror, and The Ottoman, as well as new series for abroad in our library, like The Nightfall and Hidden Destiny.

Which content did you highlight at MIPCOM 2025? What can you say about this content?

Currently, The Ottoman is in its seventh season. This season, we continue with Orhan and have entered a new era in history. Furthermore, we had sold the new season to 35 countries before it even started broadcasting. This is due to the large fan base that The Ottoman has sustained for six seasons in MENA, Russia, and the CIS. I can say that the seventh season is a project that is awaited with great anticipation.

In addition, Queen of Tears was a project highly anticipated abroad. Thanks to our leading actors, Hande Erçel and Barış Arduç, who have proven their success globally, this series was also very well-received.

Waves of Love is a typical Turkish drama; the formula for all the beautiful elements you would find in a Turkish series is present in this one. Of course, the magnificent nature of the Black Sea also creates a unique viewing experience. Moreover, both Waves of Love and Queen of Tears were sold to Russia before they even premiered in Türkiye, and the episodes started airing simultaneously with Türkiye.

Finally, Stranger in the Mirror was also highly appreciated by our customers. Especially in countries like Latin America, stories revolving around a small and adorable child attract attention. There is a mother trying to build a new life for herself, and the series portrays a strong female profile, which was also very well-received. Overall, I can say that our MIPCOM 2025 experience was quite positive.
