Lionsgate has officially announced that The Housemaid’s Secret, starring Sydney Sweeney and Kirsten Dunst, is set to hit theaters on December 17, 2027.
Following the massive success of the first installment, which grossed nearly $400 million worldwide, director Paul Feig and his creative team are reuniting for this highly anticipated sequel.
The Housemaid’s Secret is strategically positioned as high-profile counterprogramming, as it will be competing at the box office against cinematic giants like Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum and Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
In this new chapter, Sydney Sweeney returns as Millie, a young woman who takes a housekeeping job for a mysterious employer she is never allowed to see, eventually uncovering dark secrets hidden behind locked doors. Kirsten Dunst joins the cast in a key role, while the original creative force remains intact with screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine and the existing production team.
This project is part of a larger franchise vision for Lionsgate, which secured the rights to Freida McFadden’s bestselling book trilogy early on, signaling that even more films in the series are likely on the horizon.
