JustWatch is moving beyond its role as a streaming discovery platform with the launch of JustWatch TV, a new service combining ad-supported and transactional viewing options.
The company announced the move at the Toronto International Film Festival’s new market, positioning the service as a response to the increasingly fragmented streaming landscape. JustWatch TV is set to launch in October across the U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.
What Will JustWatch TV Offer?
Unlike the platform’s existing role of helping viewers find where movies and series are available, the new service will also enable users to watch selected titles directly through the platform or access transactional viewing options.
The initial content lineup includes titles from companies such as Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street and Vortex Media. The majority of the content will initially be non-exclusive, although the company says exclusive availability windows could be introduced in the future.
Why Is JustWatch Launching Its Own Streaming Service?
The launch comes as audiences increasingly navigate a crowded market made up of subscription platforms, free ad-supported services and transactional options.
Founded in 2014, the platform has built its business around helping viewers navigate that complexity. The company currently reaches around 50 million monthly users and tracks more than 500,000 movies and TV shows across over 1,500 streaming services worldwide.
With JustWatch TV, the company is moving from simply directing audiences to content toward becoming part of the viewing experience itself.
What Does JustWatch TV Mean for the Streaming Market?
The company sees the new service as a way to connect viewers, rights holders and distributors within a single ecosystem. Depending on the title, users will either be able to watch through JustWatch directly or be directed to an external platform.
The company says the model could provide another route to audiences for filmmakers, distributors and streaming services while giving viewers more flexibility in how they access content.
The streamer will roll out internationally from October 2026, marking a significant expansion of the company’s role in the global streaming ecosystem.
