Laura Linney has officially joined the cast of Lanterns, the highly anticipated new DC series set to premiere on August 16 on HBO and HBO Max.
Making a brief appearance in the new trailer that debuted on Monday, Linney joins leads Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre in this superhero drama. The series centers on two intergalactic cops, new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and legendary Green Lantern Hal Jordan (Chandler), as they investigate a murder in the American heartland, thrusting them into a dark, Earth-based mystery.

Showrunner Chris Mundy describes the project as a unique hybrid that is “as much of a buddy cop show as a superhero show”.
The production boasts an expansive ensemble cast including Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones. Lanterns is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, with the pilot episode co-written by series co-creators Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King.
