On the evening of October 12, Globo held a showcase in Cannes to announce new partnerships, highlight key titles from its portfolio, and celebrate the group’s 100th anniversary.
“When we say ‘Globo’s content is as big as the globe,’ we are recognising a body of work marked by more than 90 international nominations, 18 International Emmy Awards, the first Brazilian series ever selected for Series Mania and, this year, an exceptional milestone at the Oscars, a reflection of our growing presence on the world stage,” said journalist Cecília Malan, who hosted the event.
The showcase began with Angela Colla, Head of International Business, highlighting the strength of Globo’s portfolio. “And diversity is not only within the content or genres, such as telenovelas, series, or documentaries, but also in the business models: finished content, scripted formats, unscripted formats, and co-productions,” said Angela.
She also announced a licensing agreement with Telefe, one of Argentina’s leading broadcast TV channels, for the airing of All the Flowers and Xuxa, A Life on TV. Angela also highlighted the series Perfect Days and Red Blood – Under the Moonlight, launched in the international market during MIPCOM, as well as the classic telenovela Anything Goes, currently airing in Globo’s prime time.
Emphasizing the format business model, she recalled the partnership with Ay Yapım for the first international adaptation of Brazil Avenue. Titled Leyla, the Turkish telenovela has already been sold to more than 20 countries, showcasing the strength and relevance of Globo’s storytelling.

The event also featured the announcement of a Portuguese adaptation of Pages of Life, a classic by Manoel Carlos, for SIC. Meanwhile, the format of the series The Others was sold to Anonymous Content and will have a U.S. version. All the Flowers, an original Globoplay telenovela, will be adapted into a Greek version in partnership with Alpha and Primavisione.
Next, Alex Medeiros, Head of Drama, Documentaries & Films at Globoplay, spoke about strategic partnerships, recalling co-production agreements with Janeiro Studios for the series Discipline, Disney for the film The Ogre’s Garden, and with Gaumont for the series Deluxe.
Gabriel Jacome, Director of Content at TV Globo, spoke about the co-production with FOX Entertainment Studios, the first scripted project partnership between the two companies. Together, Globo and FOX Entertainment Studios will develop a Christmas movie set in Brazil and spoken in English.
Gabriel welcomed Janet Brown, President of Global Content Sales at BBC Studios, to the stage to talk about the co-production agreement with BBC Studios for a new documentary series that will take viewers into the heart of the Amazon, one of the world’s most vital and contested regions.
Alongside Koby Gal Raday, CEO of Janeiro Studios, Alex Medeiros presented the co-production of the series Paranoia. Created by Ron Leshem with collaboration from Claudia Jouvin (Perfect Days), the story presents a new portrait of Generation Z, a generation facing unprecedented challenges such as deepfakes, AI dominance in virtual realities, loss of privacy, mental health in a post-pandemic world, lack of financial literacy, and many other issues.
“As you’ve seen this evening, Globo, even after 100 years, continues to evolve, to innovate and to connect with audiences and partners around the world. And we are only at the beginning of our next century,” concluded Cecília Malan.
