After rising to stardom with the Netflix series Adolescence, Erin Doherty will star in Nancy Meyers’ new Warner Bros. comedy.

Doherty steps in for Emma Mackey, who exited the project in February 2026 due to a scheduling conflict. The film’s cast also includes Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, and Owen Wilson.

Erin Doherty first gained recognition for her role as Princess Anne in Netflix’s The Crown. She earned Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice awards for her role as Briony in Netflix’s Adolescence, and was also nominated by the Actor Awards for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor.”

Doherty has also appeared in Steven Knight’s crime drama A Thousand Blows and will soon star in BBC’s new drama series California Avenue.

The Nancy Meyers film (previously referred to as Paris Paramount) follows a filmmaker and producer, who were once romantic and creative partners, reuniting years later to make a new movie together, navigating their complicated relationship while dealing with volatile stars on their high-stakes production.

Nancy Meyers will write and direct her own script and produce the film alongside Ilona Herzberg, with Diana Pokorny serving as producer.

Warner Bros. has slated the film for release on December 25, 2027.
