The highly anticipated series El Turco, starring Can Yaman, is set to premiere on March 21. Produced by Ay Yapım, the show is written by Kerem Deren and Çisil Hazal Tenim and directed by Uluç Bayraktar.

As the first-ever Turkish series filmed entirely in English, El Turco will also be the first Turkish production to launch on digital platforms across 31 countries. Starting March 21, it will be available simultaneously in Türkiye (on Gain), Brazil (Globoplay), Panama (TVN), Honduras (Canal 11), the Czech Republic, Romania (Voyo), and Russia (IVI). The series will be released later in the Middle East (Starzplay) and Italy (Mediaset).

In El Turco, Can Yaman portrays Hasan Balaban, an Ottoman Janissary who, after being wounded during the Ottoman Empire’s 1683 campaign to capture Vienna, finds refuge in the Italian Alps and becomes a legendary hero in the village of Moena.

The series features an international cast, including Greta Ferro, Will Kemp, David Nykl, Kieran O’Reilly, Veronica Ferres, and Madalena Aragão, alongside Turkish actors Haluk Piyes, Hüseyin Avni Danyal, and Armağan Oğuz.

Based on Orhan Yeniaras’ book El Turco: II. Viyana Kuşatmasının Bilinmeyen Yönleri, the show was filmed in Budapest and will consist of six episodes. Additionally, El Turco has been named one of IMDb’s most anticipated new series of 2025, the first and only Turkish production to make the list.
