Denis Villeneuve’s cinematic adaptation of the Dune saga continues with Dune 3, following the critical and commercial success of Dune: Part Two. The first two films have adapted Frank Herbert’s original Dune novel, and the third installment will explore the events of Dune Messiah, the second book in the series.
Meanwhile, the casting updates for the movie have started to surface. Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, the 16-year-old son of Jason Momoa, is set to portray Leto Atreides II, a pivotal character in the narrative. This marks Nakoa-Wolf’s feature debut and a major career milestone.
Jason Momoa will reprise his role as Duncan Idaho, one of the key characters in the saga, in this new film. And for the first time, Momoa will appear on screen with his son.
While Dune Messiah ends with the birth of Paul Atreides’ twins, Leto II and Ghanima, Dune 3 is expected to introduce a time jump, showcasing the twins in adolescence. Ida Brooke (Silo) is confirmed to portray Ghanima.
Although Denis Villeneuve has expressed his intention to conclude the saga with the third film, Warner Bros. is reportedly interested in continuing the franchise due to its massive box office success.
The release date for Dune 3 has yet to be revealed, but the film is expected to premiere in 2026.
