Disney and TikTok have entered into a global content-sharing agreement that will bring selected short-form videos created by TikTok users to Disney+, marking a new step in the companies’ efforts to connect social media fandom with streaming.
The collaboration will initially launch as a pilot in the U.S. before expanding to additional markets. Participating TikTok creators will be able to produce Disney-focused content using approved material from hundreds of films and television series, with selected videos appearing both on TikTok and in the Verts section of the streamer.
The content will draw from major company properties, including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and FX, allowing creators to build videos around familiar characters, stories and franchises.
As part of the partnership, the two will also launch the Disney Creator Ambassador Program to support emerging talent. Selected creators will receive special rewards, increased visibility, access to exclusive events and career development opportunities.
The agreement comes as entertainment discovery increasingly takes place through social platforms. TikTok reported that its users shared an average of 6.5 million film- and television-related posts per day over the past year. For Disney, bringing selected fan-created content offers a new way to encourage discovery and engagement while extending the reach of its entertainment franchises.
