Netflix is expanding its video game adaptations with an animated series set in the world of Diablo, Blizzard Entertainment’s long-running action RPG franchise.
The project was announced during BlizzCon 2026, as Blizzard celebrated the 30th anniversary of Diablo and unveiled several major developments for the franchise. The animated series is being developed with Netflix, although details about its creative team, story and release date have yet to be announced.

A 30-Year-Old Gaming Franchise
First launched in 1996, the game has grown into one of Blizzard’s best-known gaming franchises, spanning multiple mainline titles and expansions. According to Blizzard, more than 130 million players worldwide have entered the world of Sanctuary across the franchise.
The Netflix series will mark another expansion of the universe beyond games, bringing its dark fantasy setting and mythology to a new format. Blizzard has confirmed that further details will be announced as development progresses.
Diablo V Is Also on the Way
The animated series arrives as the franchise enters a new phase. Blizzard also officially announced Diablo V at BlizzCon 2026, with the next mainline game scheduled to launch in spring 2029.
The game will take players to a fallen Sanctuary where Diablo has won and the heroes have been defeated, introducing a new chapter in the franchise’s story.
With Diablo V in development and the Netflix animated series now in the works, Blizzard is expanding one of its longest-running gaming properties across both interactive and screen entertainment.
