Channel 4 and UKTV have deepened their streaming alliance.
UKTV’s U service is now integrated into the channel’s streaming platform. Viewers can now watch thousands of hours of free British content on a single platform.
Marcus Arthur, CEO of UKTV, said: “With our U service now also available on Channel 4 streaming, UKTV’s popular and award-winning shows can reach new audiences and Channel 4 viewers get even more choice. It’s the perfect partnership, built on putting viewers first.”
The catalogue includes UKTV originals and BBC classics. With this move, the companies aim to offer more options to the viewers and strengthen the channel in the ad-supported VOD market.
Managers describe the co-operation as a “viewer-focused strategic partnership.” The streaming platform solidifies its claim as one of the most comprehensive free entertainment platforms in the UK.
Jonathan Allan, interim CEO of Channel 4, commented on the alliance, saying: “Bringing UKTV’s much-loved shows together with our award-winning programmes means more fantastic choice for everyone. Viewers can expect us to continue making it easier to enjoy the programmes they love.”
