ATV Distribution’s newest Turkish drama, Different Lives (Altı Üstü İstanbul), made a remarkable debut, drawing strong viewer interest with its emotionally charged narrative, compelling characters, and vivid depiction of Istanbul’s diverse social landscape.

The series quickly established itself as the standout launch of the summer season, generating significant audience engagement from its very first episode.

Blending themes of family, friendship, ambition, love, and justice, Different Lives follows Emir, a gifted young football player growing up in one of Istanbul’s disadvantaged neighborhoods. Driven by a desire to support his family and fulfill his late father’s dreams, Emir finds his future dramatically altered after a life-changing tragedy. As long-buried secrets begin to emerge, tensions rise, loyalties are challenged, and unexpected connections reshape the lives of everyone around him.

With its strong ensemble cast, authentic neighborhood setting, and emotionally resonant storytelling, the series offers a powerful exploration of social contrasts, personal aspirations, and human resilience. By bringing together characters from vastly different backgrounds, Different Lives delivers a relatable and universal story that speaks to audiences both in Türkiye and beyond.

Müge Akar, Group Head of Sales & Distribution at ATV Distribution, stated:

“We are very pleased with the strong start of Different Lives. With its emotional storytelling, relatable characters, and universal themes, we believe the series has strong potential to connect with audiences both in Türkiye and internationally.”

The premiere episode generated significant buzz across social media platforms, where viewers praised the series’ strong performances, emotional storytelling, and high production quality. Industry expectations had already pointed to a promising launch, and the first episode successfully delivered on those forecasts with an outstanding premiere performance.
