ZDF Studios has announced a focused, high-impact slate of premium unscripted and documentary programming ahead of the upcoming Sunny Side of the Doc market, taking place from June 22–24 in La Rochelle, France.

Designed to meet the steady global demand for emotionally engaging and informative content, the selection features top-tier titles spanning high-end history, socio-cultural topics, and nature documentaries. Ralf Rückauer, VP Unscripted at ZDF Studios, emphasized that the marketplace is essential for building meaningful international partnerships and co-production opportunities, especially as audiences continue to seek out powerful stories with strong narrative hooks.

ZDF Studios’ flagship historical offerings include Silent War: In the Shadow of Atomic Bombs, which provides a timely exploration of the ongoing nuclear threat, alongside Ancient Betrayals, an investigation into how deception reshaped ancient civilizations. The historical slate also features Constantine the Great, offering fresh insights into antiquity’s enigmatic ruler, and the brand-new documentary America’s Wars, which takes a critical look at how military conflicts from the War of Independence to the present day have shaped the global identity and actions of the United States.

Broadening its portfolio into social and cultural issues, ZDF Studios will present Citrus World, a visually rich six-part series exploring the worldwide cultural and ecological significance of citrus fruits, as well as Las Vegas: From Rags to Riches, an expose revealing the social divides and true cost of the American Dream hidden behind the city’s glittering façade.

Meanwhile, the nature and wildlife lineup shines a spotlight on Cheetah Fast and Wild, which follows two human-reared cubs facing the ultimate challenge of wilderness survival. This is complemented by Lord Howe Island – Reset for Paradise, a hopeful story of ecological restoration driven by 20 years of rare archival footage, and Wild about Art, a fascinating documentary that explores the creative origins of the animal kingdom.
