Yeh Chien Ee, President of RX Asia Pacific, delivered the keynote address at Asia TV Forum & Market, ATF. The event is being held on Wednesday 6 December at the Sands Convention Centre in Singapore and marked an important milestone in the Singapore Media Festival.
Tan Kiat How, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information, was also present at the opening. In ATF 2023, participation returned to pre-pandemic levels and reached remarkable levels.
Recalling the challenges of the past years, Yeh Chien Ee expressed her gratitude for the participation of more than 60 countries and regions in Singapore to attend the ATF. Yeh Chien Ee emphasised the challenges faced by the Media and Entertainment industry.
REWRITING THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
Yeh Chien Ee highlighted that in line with this year’s theme, “Rewriting the Entertainment Industry”, discussions at the ATF Leaders’ Dialogue focused on the evolution of the industry. Highlights included the rise of Asian content and its impact on regional and global platforms, the role of artificial intelligence in storytelling, and innovative business models such as FAST (free-to-air, ad-supported television) and their suitability for the Asian region.
Recalling ATF’s humble beginnings in 2000, Yeh Chien Ee announced that they will celebrate ATF’s silver jubilee next year. Yeh Chien Ee expressed his sincere thanks to the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and recognised the contributions of partners, sponsors and media.
Beyond the traditional buy-and-sell market, ATF serves as a platform for in-development and production collaborations between companies, countries, and regions. Mr. Yeh Chien Ee congratulated Jin Xing on her joint venture with Singapore’s Liberty Media, collaborating on a new studio to produce content for China and beyond.
This year, ATF introduced 2 new pitches with Beach House Pictures for scripted and unscripted formats, along with the first-ever adult Animation Lab with Ties That Bind for Asian and European Producers.
