Betty Gilpin has joined FX’s The Lowdown for its second season, playing a major role opposite Ethan Hawke.

Gilpin will portray Ginger, a character described as sharp, resourceful, and deeply involved in the unfolding investigation.

The first season of The Lowdown followed journalist Lee Raybon (Hawke) as he sought to uncover the city’s darkest secrets, often putting himself at risk. In Season 1, Lee investigates the suspicious death of Dale Washberg after probing the powerful Washberg family.

Season 1 also featured performances from Keith David, Kyle MacLachlan, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Peter Dinklage, and the late Graham Greene. The series was recognized as one of 2025’s most outstanding TV programs and was named among the year’s top 10 shows by the AFI Awards.

Season 2 filming is set to take place this spring in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gilpin’s past projects include GLOW, American Primeval, Three Women, Mrs. Davis, Gaslit, and Death By Lightning. She is also set to appear in Ron Howard’s upcoming film Alone at Dawn and Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning.
