The Last of Us co-creator Craig Mazin is set to helm a Baldur’s Gate game adaptation for HBO.
Mazin will serve as showrunner on the series adaptation of Baldur’s Gate, part of the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The series will be set after the events of Baldur’s Gate 3.
The game received widespread critical acclaim following its release and was named Digital Spy’s Game of the Year. Mazin described the project as “a dream come true,” emphasizing his deep respect and love for the world and its characters.
Francesca Orsi, HBO’s Executive Vice President and Head of Drama Programming, praised Mazin’s talent for building immersive, character-driven worlds.
Speaking on behalf of Hasbro, Gabe Marano said fans have long awaited an adaptation and that HBO and Mazin are ideal partners for the project.
Ahead of the new series, The Last of Us is set to return with its third season in 2027.
No casting or detailed plot information has been revealed yet and no release date has yet been announced for the Baldur’s Gate series.
