Sony Pictures and Macro Film Studios have entered a multiyear exclusive agreement giving Sony first-look access to Macro’s projects and joint financing on select films.

Sony will release at least one Macro-produced and co-financed feature annually. Macro has a track record of successful collaborations with Sony, including the animation hit GOAT and One of Them Days, both commercially and critically successful.

The deal strengthens the creative and financial partnership between the two studios, allowing them to bring distinctive, genre-spanning stories to a global audience.

“Sony has been an outstanding partner, and we’re proud to expand our relationship through a first-look and co-financing agreement,” said Charles D. King, Founder & CEO of Macro. “Building on our past work together, James Lopez and I look forward to continuing to bring distinctive stories across genres and formats to audiences worldwide.”

“Macro finds stories where others often aren’t looking. Charles and James have an extraordinary history backing their bold instincts and consistently show up being great creative studio partners as well as first-rate producers and co-financiers. We are all thrilled to have Macro here at Sony,” said Sanford Panitch, President of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group.
