Seoul-based format agency Something Special is bringing a new slate of Korean unscripted concepts to MIPCOM 2026, with entertainment, talent competition, family reality and factual formats among its offerings.
The company will highlight the second season of MBN’s Unforgettable Duet, which premieres October 31 and introduces a new technology-driven element called Reminiscence Memory. Developed with the Korea Communications Agency, MBN and Something Special, the initiative uses generative AI to create personalized visual material from photographs, images and interview content connected to people living with dementia.
The format pairs a person with dementia and a family member as they revisit shared memories through music, with a celebrity “Memory Singer” guiding the experience. The AI component builds on earlier research into personalized visual experiences for people with dementia.
Competition, Reality and Factual Formats
Something Special’s MIPCOM slate also includes The Underdogs: Top Dog Project, a reality competition that pairs abandoned dogs with people who have faced personal setbacks, and The Scout, a singing competition created and executive produced by Korean singer Lee Seung-chul.
Talent competition From Unknown to Legend brings together 99 contestants and divides them across a five-level ranking structure based on their public recognition, creating a format built around the progression from obscurity to fame.
The agency will also present Granny Goes Global, which follows grandparents and grandchildren as they travel internationally together, alongside Suspicious Guesthouse: Unforgettable Trip, a short-form factual entertainment concept in which people living with dementia welcome family members to a guesthouse.
Something Special’s sales team, including Hayoung Rhee and Courtney Boyett, will showcase the formats at the KOCCA stand in Cannes during MIPCOM 2026.
