Netflix has announced an exciting new reality competition series titled Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, deeply inspired by the whimsical world of Roald Dahl’s legendary novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Much like the classic story, this high-stakes social experiment will see 12 lucky Golden Ticket winners step through the gates of the famed chocolate factory, each accompanied by a partner of their choosing. Once inside, these contestants must navigate a wondrous yet unpredictable landscape filled with games, temptations, and tests designed to challenge them physically, mentally, and morally. As they adapt and strategize through the confectionery chaos, only one player will ultimately prove they have the resilience and character to walk away with a life-changing grand prize.

The highly anticipated Wonka’s The Golden Ticket is scheduled to make its global premiere on September 23, 2026, leading up to a dramatic two-part finale on September 30. In a deeply nostalgic tribute to the beloved 1971 cinematic adaptation, the show will feature the digitally recreated voice of the late Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, a unique element crafted with the full consent and blessing of the Gene Wilder Estate to honor his legendary, heart-filled performance.

Adding to the retro charm, original 1971 cast member Rusty Goffe is also set to make a grand return to the factory floor, reprising his classic role as an Oompa Loompa to help guide the contestants through their trials.

This competition marks the latest expansion of Netflix’s growing Roald Dahl universe, following recent adaptations like Matilda the Musical, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, and The Twits, all stemming from the streamer’s 2021 partnership with the Roald Dahl Story Company. Fans of this sweet world can look forward to even more imagination down the line, as a brand-new animated feature film titled Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factor, boasting a stellar voice cast that includes Kit Connor and Taika Waititi, is already being whipped up for a 2027 release.
