Netflix has secured a straight-to-series order for the adaptation of The Corrections.
The project will star three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep, with the screenplay adapted by Jonathan Franzen from his 2001 bestselling novel. Oscar-winning Cord Jefferson will direct all episodes of the limited series, which is being developed by Paramount Television Studios.
The story follows a fractured family in America’s Midwest as they come together in an attempt to fulfill their mother’s wish for one last Christmas together. Streep will portray the mother, Enid.
The Corrections series is part of Netflix’s strategy to expand its prestige drama offerings, and the streamer won the project in a competitive bidding process, outpacing other platforms.
