Panel and Q&As Focused on Strategic Challenges and Leadership

A high-level session brings together influential executives and thought leaders to address the most pressing strategic challenges facing the television and streaming industries today:

  • Panel “Windowing, Exclusiveness and Distribution Deals: Buyer’s Nightmare or Opportunity” will explore how the current system forces us into a “safe” yet counterproductive cycle of buying content.
  • One of the keynotes, Bob McCourt, Chief Operating Officer for Commercial and International at Fremantle, will cover „The Power of Global TV Brands“ and specific examples of long-running Fremantle shows such as Got Talent and Baywatch
  • The panel “FTA vs. Pay-TV Channels vs. Streamers: The Battle for Live Events?”, sponsored by Appear, will explore how streamers are increasingly taking over exclusive rights to live sports, concerts, and events – challenging FTA and Pay-TV and reshaping the way audiences consume live content. Also, as an introduction to the panel, we will find out more about the unique challenge of delivering the Olympic games to millions of viewers across multiple platforms and geographies.
  • The panel “Leadership in Public Media Services” will explore the dynamic workday of a leader in public media—what their typical day looks like and the challenges they face along the way
  • Bartosz Witak, BBC Studios, in keynote Q&A with Sanja Božić-Ljubičić
  • Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz and Jamie Cooke from Warner Bros. Discovery take the stage for a keynote Q&A session called „One size does NOT fit all: Max is going glocal“. Hear about WBD’s strategy and how partnerships are vital to building a sustainable streaming business.
  • Panel “Piracy and Profit Loss: Effective Antipiracy Strategies in TV Industry” will explore the impact of unregulated markets in Europe, addressing the technological, legal, and economic challenges of TV piracy and discussing the next steps for effective antipiracy strategies.

Panels and Q&As on Market Changes and New Regulations

NEM Dubrovnik 2025 will once again gather leading industry voices to explore the key trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of television and streaming. Through a series of panels, keynotes, and presentations, topics such as changing business models, rising content costs, advertising shifts, regulation, and regional partnerships will be put in focus.

  • Panel “Streamers are Becoming Operators and Operators are Becoming Streamers?”  sponsored by Backscreen, will explore the trend of streamers adding linear channels and operators integrating streamers into their platforms, raising the question of whether they will remain partners or become competitors.
  • Presentation and keynote Q&A with Emilie Anthonis, President and Managing Director of MPA EMEA held by Chris Marcich will explore the Motion Picture Association’s 360-degree strategy to protect the creative sector and audiences globally and discuss her journey and vision for her role.
  • Panel “TV Ads vs. TV Digital Ads” will examine how CTV, FAST, AVOD, and SVOD are reshaping the traditional TV ad landscape and what that means for the future of advertising. The panel’s introduction will be made by Google and Omdia.
  • Panel “Europe’s Audiovisual Future: Do We Have the Necessary Conditions to Succeed?” will explore how effective the AVMS Directive has been in supporting European content and audiovisual players, especially streamers. As the European Commission evaluates the Directive ahead of a possible 2026 revision, the discussion will address differing views on reopening it and the ongoing study that will inform future recommendations.
  • Sponsored by PRVA TV, panel “How Inflation Affects Already Expensive Content “will explore how inflation increases content costs, potentially leading to higher prices, smaller budgets, or a shift to lower-cost content.
  • Presentation “Viaplay and Pickbox: Partnering for Growth in Southeast Europe” will present how the partnership is driving strategic growth and expanding content reach across Southeast Europe.

Finally, NEM Dubrovnik 2025 will introduce „NEM Kickoff“ with three opening presentations which will help all participants to look at the TV industry from different angles. The presentations are:

  • Content Trends in the Era of Trump
  • Innovative Investment Partners to Scale in Global Markets
  • Case Studies on AI-Powered Media Growth
