Australian soap Neighbours is entering the vertical entertainment space, with Fremantle partnering with Roseberry Media to turn selected storylines from the long-running series into microdramas.

The new vertical adaptations will be released on Roseberry’s Epis app this autumn, bringing stories from the Neighbours archive to mobile-first audiences. The project will draw on the soap’s extensive catalogue, which spans more than 9,300 episodes produced across four decades.

AI Will be Deployed

Roseberry will use its proprietary RedSnapper AI technology to reformat selected episodes and story arcs for vertical viewing. The company describes the technology as a tool for transforming existing television and film libraries into vertical entertainment.

Neighbours, which helped launch the careers of actors including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Guy Pearce and Margot Robbie, aired its latest TV episode at the end of 2025. The series was cancelled in 2022 before being revived by Amazon for two further seasons.

For Fremantle, the partnership provides another way to extend the commercial life of a major television library while introducing its established IP to a new audience.

“Working with RoseBerry allows us to explore incredible archive in an entirely new way, bringing much-loved IP to new audiences while demonstrating how established television libraries can continue to evolve,” said Jens Richter, Fremantle’s CEO of Commercial and International.

Roseberry founder and co-CEO Guy Hameiri said Neighbours represents the company’s first use of RedSnapper on a long-running soap with an extensive library of characters and storylines.

The New York-based company launched earlier in 2026 and has already established partnerships with distributors including A+E Global Media, All3Media International, Banijay Rights, Cineflix Rights and Fremantle. Its Epis app launched in July with more than 100 titles, combining original productions with existing content reformatted vertically.

The Neighbours project adds one of television’s longest-running scripted properties to the growing push to repurpose established libraries for the rapidly expanding microdrama and vertical video market.
