Kerry Washington is set to star in Netflix’s upcoming political thriller An Innocent Girl, which she is also producing.
The film will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously scored a major Netflix hit with Carry-On. Set in Washington, D.C., the story follows a young and ambitious woman who is seduced by an elite power couple, only to find herself trapped in a dangerous web of sex, power, and murder.
The cast also includes James Marsden and Chloe East. The screenplay is written by Michael Mohan and Marc Guggenheim, with final revisions by Carly Wray.
Additional producers include Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
The film marks Washington’s return to Washington, D.C.–set political storytelling following her breakout success in Scandal.
Production is expected to begin soon and no release date has yet been announced.
