Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams will lead Crave’s Yaga.

Starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, and Clark Backo the eight-episode series is adapted from Canadian playwright Kat Sandler’s hit play.

Set in a small town, the mystery-thriller is a modern take of the Baba Yaga legend. Sandler will serve as the writer and showrunner of the series with David Frazee and Rachel Talalay directing.

Yaga will be Crave’s first 30-minute original drama and will be presented at London TV Screening by Sphere Abacus for international distribution.

Bell Media’s vice president, content development & programming Justin Stockman said: “We’re thrilled to bring Kat Sandler’s bold vision to Crave with this first-ever half-hour drama, and to continue setting the bar for genre-bending, unexpected storytelling.”

Yaga will follow private investigator Rapp coming to a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park, heir to a prominent fishing company. Rapp comes face to face with town’s detective Carson, charismatic professor Katherine, and a web of suspects.

Yaga has evolved from myth to stage to my first greenlit series, reclaiming the wicked witch and reshaping her as an incendiary feminist antihero for our time,” Sandler said. “It reflects the kind of storytelling I love: propulsive, accessible, dark, funny, and unapologetically bold.”
