The modern reimagining of Baywatch, one of the most iconic television franchises of all time, is set to return to screens after global distributor Fremantle secured a broadcasting deal with media giant Sky for the UK and Ireland.
The 12-episode first season, co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, will launch in 2027 on the Comcast-owned linear channel Sky and its accompanying streaming service, NOW.
Scheduled to make its US premiere on Fox in January 2027, Baywatch will follow a new lineup of lifeguards as they navigate high-stakes rescues, complex relationships, and beachside drama along the coast of Southern California. The dynamic new generation of fans will be introduced to a star-studded cast that includes Stephen Amell, Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader.
Behind the camera, Matt Nix (Burn Notice, The Gifted) serves as the showrunner and executive producer, working alongside a seasoned production team that includes McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz. While keeping the signature energy and instantly familiar feel of the original global brand, Fremantle notes that this large-scale production has been tailored to deliver an elevated experience for both loyal and new viewers alike.
