Producer, director, and writer J.J. Abrams is returning to TV screens with Duster, one of the most anticipated HBO series of 2025. The first trailer for the crime drama series has also been released.

Additionally, the Duster series reunites J.J. Abrams and Josh Holloway. The duo previously collaborated on the hit TV series Lost, which defined the 2000s.

J.J. Abrams, best known for the renowned series Lost, had not worked as a writer in TV productions since Fringe. After Fringe, J.J. Abrams directed Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker and he is now returning to TV with his new series Duster.

The eight-episode series is set in the southwestern United States in the 1970s. Duster tells the story of a crime family trying to gain power in the region and a driver working for them. In the series, Josh Holloway portrays the character “Jim,” and the 1970s underground world is explored. Jim takes on missions that put his life on the line while also trying to come to terms with his past.

The cast of Duster features Josh Holloway, Camille Guaty, Sydney Elisabeth, Adriana Aluna Martinez, Dan Tracy, and Sofia Vassilieva. The series is directed by Darren Grant and Steph Green. Darren Grant is best known for his work on Suits and Supernatural, while Steph Green is renowned for her work on Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, Watchmen, and Luke Cage.
