Director Marc Turtletaub is preparing to bring Ben Reeves’ novel Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt to the big screen.
The screenplay will be written by Oren Moverman, who has previously worked with Turtletaub on Puzzle and Moverman’s latest film, Borges and Me.
Reeves’ novel, which became a New York Times bestseller, tells the story of Travis, a quiet man who lives with his cat and spends his days supporting people in the final stages of life. Travis’s simple and solitary life begins to change when he meets Dalia, a midwife who lives in the apartment across, and her eight-year-old daughter, Layla.As Travis becomes closer to them, the story explores his changing relationship with life, death and the connections between people.
Turtletaub’s adaptation of Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt is planned to be filmed in the United Kingdom. Details regarding the cast and production schedule have not yet been announced.
