Ella Hunt and Moses Ingram have joined the cast of Mike Birbiglia’s new comedy Old Friends New Friends, rounding out the ensemble of the Focus Features film.
Ella Hunt and Moses Ingram are the latest additions to Old Friends New Friends, the upcoming comedy written and directed by Mike Birbiglia, who will also appear in the film. The two actors join a previously announced ensemble that includes François Arnaud, Lucas Hedges, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dylan Gelula and Kathryn Newton.
The film follows a close-knit group of college friends who reunite at a summer camp for the wedding of an old friend. Their reunion takes an unexpected turn when they discover that the groom has built an entirely new life surrounded by a different group of friends. The situation forces them to reflect on their changing relationships, the people they have become and whether growing up inevitably means growing apart.
‘Old Friends New Friends’ is Birbiglia’s Return to Feature Filmmaking
Old Friends New Friends marks Birbiglia’s first feature film in a decade. The filmmaker previously directed Don’t Think Twice and Sleepwalk with Me, the latter of which won the Sundance Film Festival’s Audience Award in the NEXT category.
Birbiglia is producing the new film with Jacob Jaffke and Joe Hartwick under Oddball Entertainment. Focus Features is backing the project.
Hunt is known for Dickinson and has recently appeared in Hulu’s Not Suitable for Work, as well as films including Saturday Night and Horizon: An American Saga. Ingram rose to prominence with Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, earning an Emmy nomination for her performance, and has since appeared in A House of Dynamite and HBO Max’s I Love LA.
The roles Hunt and Ingram will play in Old Friends New Friends have not yet been disclosed.
