International distributor Eccho Rights has announced a major licensing agreement with Portugal’s leading free-to-air broadcaster, SIC, further cementing the global footprint of Turkish content.

This strategic deal brings a premium slate of acclaimed Turkish dramas to Portuguese audiences, including hit titles such as I Am Mother, My Home My Destiny, A Journey to Belong, Elif, and Wounded Birds.

The partnership marks an expansion of a successful history between the two entities; SIC previously found ratings success with Ay Yapım’s Brave and Beautiful, which it acquired from Eccho Rights in 2024. By adding these five new diverse titles, SIC is doubling down on the proven high-engagement power of Turkish storytelling to bolster its daytime and prime-time programming.

The agreement was spearheaded by Melis Hamamcıoğlu, Eccho Rights’ Sales Executive for Portugal. The timing of the announcement is particularly significant as the international media community gathers in Lisbon this week (April 21–23) for the highly anticipated Content Europe market.

I Am Mother

I Am Mother (original title: Sandık Kokusu) is produced by O3 Medya for Show TV. The series stars Özge Özpirinçci, Demet Akbağ, Metin Akdülger, Engin Öztürk and Nesrin Cavadzade in a powerful exploration of motherhood, loss and resilience.

My Home My Destiny (original title: Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir) is produced by OGM Pictures for TV8. The series stars Demet Özdemir, İbrahim Çelikkol and Engin Öztürk in a modern drama built around themes of identity, belonging and love; it broke multiple ratings records on TV8 and has sold to over 90 countries worldwide.

Elif (original title: Elif) is produced by Yeşil Yapım and provided a huge breakthrough for daily drama series from Türkiye as it sold across the world after its international launch in 2015. A sweeping daily family drama built around a young girl’s journey and the powerful bonds of love and loyalty that define her, the series has proven its ability to build devoted audiences on a global scale.

Wounded Birds (original title: Yaralı Kuşlar) is produced by Stellar Yapım for Kanal D, from the same creative team behind Elif. A gripping daily drama combining emotional intensity with high-stakes family secrets, Wounded Birds made history as the first Turkish drama series to secure international pre-sales before its domestic premiere.
A Journey to Belong (original title: Bizi Birleştiren Hayat) is produced by Royal Pictures for Kanal D. A heartfelt family saga, the series aired daily during the 2024-25 season.

Melis Hamamcıoğlu, Director of Digital Media Acquisition & Content Sales at Eccho Rights, commented: “This is a really exciting moment for Eccho Rights in Portugal. SIC remains the country’s biggest broadcaster, and bringing such a strong and diverse slate of Turkish titles to their schedule reflects the growing confidence Portuguese audiences have shown in this genre. With Content Europe taking place in Lisbon this week, the timing could not feel more apt – it is a wonderful demonstration of the momentum Turkish drama continues to build right across Europe.”

The deal reinforces Eccho Rights’ growing footprint in the Iberian market, following recent sales activity across Spain and Latin America that has established the company as a leading partner for premium Turkish drama in the region.
