Dexter: Resurrection has been one of the breakout hits of 2025. The revival, which brings Dexter Morgan back to TV, quickly became one of the most-watched shows on Paramount+ and has officially been renewed for a second season.
Following the renewal, fans have been eager to learn where the writers will take Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. The first season continued from the events of New Blood, focusing on Dexter’s life after being shot by his son, Harrison. Traveling to New York to find him, Dexter tried to reconnect and protect his son while also hunting down a secretive group of serial killers.
The cast featured Michael C. Hall alongside Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Neil Patrick Harris, and Krysten Ritter. Series creator Clyde Phillips has now confirmed that the mysterious “New York Ripper,” first mentioned in Season 1, will be the main antagonist of the upcoming season.
Introduced as an unresolved case that obsessed Detective Claudia, the New York Ripper is a serial killer known for mutilating victims with an unidentified tool, a detail that also caught Dexter’s attention. The character became a fan fascination throughout Season 1, inspiring numerous theories.
One popular fan theory speculates that the New York Ripper’s name is an anagram, suggesting the killer could actually be Jonah Mitchell, the son of Trinity Killer from the original series.
While most details about Season 2 remain under wraps, Dexter is expected to track down the New York Ripper, a figure who has vanished for year, and may even see this elusive killer as the next addition to his “collection.”
