Paramount Television Studios is developing a television adaptation of Keith Rosson’s horror novel Coffin Moon, with Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple’s Iron Ocean producing through the company’s first-look deal with the studio.
Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue, known for Transparent, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Painkiller, are attached to adapt the novel and serve as showrunners. Rosson will join the project as a consulting producer.
What is Coffin Moon About?
Set during a harsh winter in Oregon in 1975, Coffin Moon follows a veteran and his adopted niece as they track down the vampire responsible for slaughtering their family, while being pursued by the same creature.
The novel was first published in September 2025 and was inspired in part by Charles Portis’ True Grit. The paperback edition is being released by Random House this week.
Another Collaboration for Biel and Paramount
Coffin Moon marks the latest project between Paramount Television Studios and Iron Ocean. The companies are also developing the spy thriller The Ambler Warning, based on Robert Ludlum’s novel, with Biel attached to star and executive produce.
For Harpster and Fitzerman-Blue, the project adds another adaptation to an expanding slate. The pair previously created and served as showrunners on Netflix’s Painkiller, and are currently working on projects including The Dress for TriStar and The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife for Netflix.
