Canal+ Group delivered a strong first half of 2026, reporting a 40% year-on-year revenue increase to €4.3 billion, largely driven by its acquisition of MultiChoice, which significantly expanded the company’s presence across Africa.

The broadcaster said it has already generated $136 million in acquisition-related synergies and remains on track to reach its $284 million target by the end of the year.

The group’s operating performance also improved considerably, with EBIT rising 68% to $492 million, while operating cash flow reached €636 million. Across MultiChoice territories, subscriptions climbed 40% during the first six months of the year, with South Africa recording its strongest month for new subscribers in a decade in June, supported by FIFA World Cup coverage and the launch of the Novelas+ channels.

Alongside strengthening its sports portfolio through new rights agreements for South Africa’s Premier Soccer League and the men’s and women’s Rugby World Cups, Canal+ continues to expand its investment in African productions. Current projects include The Road Home, Heist of Benin, and an adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s acclaimed novel Americanah.

The company’s film division, Studiocanal, also posted solid theatrical results across multiple territories with titles including Guru, Children of the Resistance, Pressure, Extrawurst, Woodwalkers 2, and Housemaid. Looking ahead, Studiocanal is preparing a strong festival lineup for Venice, London, and Toronto, while its upcoming slate includes The Midnight Library, Paddington 4, and Zack Snyder’s reimagining of Escape From New York.

Canal+ also confirmed plans to launch its service in Belgium in 2027. Meanwhile, under a new five-year agreement with France’s film industry organizations, the company will invest nearly $1.1 billion in French and European cinema between 2028 and 2032, reinforcing its long-term commitment to film production and distribution.
