Canal+ Poland has announced a deal for the new drama series SCAR (Cicatriz), based on the bestselling book of the same name by Juan Gómez-Jurado and written by the writers of Money Heist, Vis a Vis and Toy Boy.

The international broadcaster joins the venture – the first of its kind collaboration between Spanish and Adriatic broadcasters Serbian fiction – whilst it is still in its filming phase. Asacha Media Group key facilitators in making the agreement with Canal+ Poland possible.

Plano a Plano (İspanya) ve Dopamine (Meksika) tarafından gerçekleştirilen İspanyol-Meksika ortak yapımı filmin oyuncu kadrosunda Sırp aktris Milena Radulovic (Besa, Superdeep) ve İspanyol aktör Juanlu González (Valeria, La Caza. Guadiana) yer alıyor.

The thriller is produced by Plano a Plano with Dopamine and with the collaboration of Asacha Media Group and Adrenalin in association with RTVE, Prime Video in Spain and Telekom Srbija, and now Canal+ Poland.

Małgorzata Seck, Vice-President of Programming at CANAL+ Polska, said: “Participation in international co-productions is a great opportunity for us to cooperate with the greatest talents from around the world and take yet another step in developing CANAL+ Polska programming offer. The Scar project, starting from the plot, through an intriguing mix of southern and eastern climates is an unusual and far from stereotypical look at Spain. The production value, the input of the writers of the cult Money Heist, promises a show that will be talked about. And the Polish element in the story will have an additional appeal for our viewers. Thanks to our involvement in such co-operations, we were able to create such well-received titles as Marie Antoinette or DNA 2, which also included Polish talents in the cast.”

A STEP FORWARD IN INTERNATIONAL CO-PRODUCTIONS

César Benítez, President of Plano a Plano and Producer of the series, said: “Having the collaboration of Canal+ Poland in this project means taking a step forward in international co-productions, and so consolidating the business path that we are committed to at Plano a Plano with our international expansion project. In this production we have been able to organically put together a story, but also a business model capable of involving territories as different as Spain, Poland and the Adriatic region. Having the participation of the Asacha Media Group team has been crucial for this project to be a positive experience for all parties”.

Fidela Navarro, CEO of Dopamine said: “We are so pleased that Canal+ Poland is joining this great project. From the perspective of the coproduction business, Scar becomes a new success story involving for the first time such diverse territories and players. And this is possible by the combination of great content and the common international vision of all of us.”

Marina Williams, Co CEO of Asacha Media Group, added: ”We take immense pride in collaborating with Plano a Plano and Dopamine on Scar roll out and are excited about Canal Plus coming on board at the project’s inception. Hailing from Spain, this venture exemplifies Plano a Plano’s ability to harness the expertise of local creatives, crafting a production that resonates across diverse cultures through integration of top quality international talent.”

Polish actor, comedian and film director Maciej Stuhr (The Secret of the Village) joins the cast of Scar. Maciej will play Jakub Sanders, a technology guru and businessman. A businessman who wants to take LISA, a revolutionary app, out of Simon’s hands.

A shark in the business world, Jakub will make a plan that will either make him the most powerful businessman or the worst decision of his life.

Shooting began in Bilbao in November and an episode will be shot in Serbia. The directorial team includes Miguel Ángel Vivas, Manuel Carballo and Alejandro Bazzano. The script team consists of Fernando Sancristóbal, Pablo Roa, Verónica Marza, Laura Belloso, Fran Carballal, Ramón Tarrés and Pablo Manchado. Executive Producers are César Benítez, Emilio Amaré, Emilio A. Pina, Álvaro Benítez, Fernando Sancristóbal and Fidela Navarro.

The Canal+ Poland deal was assisted by content distribution company Akkari Enterprises Ltd (AEL).
