CANAL+ Distribution adds all three seasons of SBS’s global hit Korean drama, The Penthouse, to Pickbox.

The show is now available in 7 European countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bulgaria) via Pickbox NOW. Pickbox offers both an SVOD service and linear channels in this region.

CANAL+ Distribution’s EMEA Distribution Manager Camille Mury-Découflet highlighted the importance of the deal, saying: “We are delighted to bring the hit drama from SBS, The Penthouse, and its three seasons to Pickbox viewers. They will enjoy the drama, the suspense and the romance that pleased so many viewers worldwide already. This partnership between Pickbox and CANAL+ DISTRIBUTION marks a milestone for the footprint of Korean dramas in the Balkans as the series will be available in multiple territories and languages.”

Meanwhile, Sanja Božić Ljubičić, CEO of Pickbox emphasized the growing interest in Korean storytelling and said: “We are very pleased to bring The Penthouse to Pickbox. We’ve seen a growing curiosity among our viewers for Korean storytelling, and this title felt like a natural next step: full of strong emotions, suspense, and memorable characters. Working with CANAL+ DISTRIBUTION allows us to respond to that interest and continue expanding our catalogue with globally successful titles, while opening the door to new storytelling worlds for our audience.”

The Penthouse became the ninth most watched Korean drama with its first season, with its second season lifting it to eight place. Centering on power struggles, secrets and murderous intrigues of rich families living in an elite residence, the show is part of CANAL+ Distribution’s strategy to expand premium Korean dramas globally.
