Calinos Entertainment’s Ugly is set to end after 11 episodes in Türkiye, with Star TV bringing the 25 Film-produced drama to a close shortly after the start of its second season.
Starring Çağlar Ertuğrul and Derya Pınar Ak, the series aired its 10th episode on September 27. The decision to end the drama after episode 11 comes as the new Turkish broadcast season gets underway, with several series facing early finales. The final episode is expected to air on October 4.
The decision comes only weeks after Ugly returned for its second season. In episode 10, the consequences of Kadir and Meryem’s divorce moved to the forefront of the story, while Cennet’s decision to disown Kadir further deepened the conflict within the family. Engin’s declaration of love for Meryem and growing suspicions surrounding Lale also set up the final developments of the series.
Ugly Heads to MIPCOM 2026
While its Turkish run is coming to an early end, Ugly is continuing its international rollout, with Calinos Entertainment handling worldwide distribution.
The drama is part of Calinos’ MIPCOM 2026 slate and will be presented to international buyers and the press in Cannes. The distributor has planned a dedicated programme around the series, bringing lead actors Çağlar Ertuğrul, Derya Pınar Ak and Olgun Toker together with directors Burcu Alptekin and Merve Çolak.
The team is scheduled to meet with international media on October 13 to discuss the drama’s story, characters, production process and international rollout. Calinos will also host a dedicated Ugly event that evening for buyers, media representatives and industry professionals.
Produced by 25 Film, Ugly follows Meryem Tunalı, who loses her family at a young age and grows up alongside Cennet’s family. As a child, Meryem is labelled “ugly” because of her short hair and worn-out clothes, but she grows into a young woman whose love for Cennet’s son Kadir remains unchanged.
Years later, Meryem and Kadir meet again, but Kadir is no longer the person she remembers. Their reunion develops into a story that goes beyond romance, exploring power, ambition, identity and long-buried secrets. The cast also includes Başak Gümülcinelioğlu, Olgun Toker, Baran Bölükbaşı, Nur Sürer and Çetin Tekindor.
Ugly has already secured international deals, including releases in the MENA region and Romania, with Calinos continuing to position the title for further global distribution. Its MIPCOM appearance will therefore come at a notable point in the series’ international journey, even as its Turkish broadcast concludes with its 11th episode.
