Atresmedia’s original series Ángela is extending its reach worldwide. Following its run on Atresplayer Spain and Antena 3, the psychological thriller is now gaining strong traction internationally.

The series, which already made a strong impact over the summer in Latin American countries and Brazil, has only been available on international platforms for a few days. Yet, it has already become the most-watched non-English language series in more than ten countries, including Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, and Switzerland.

The series is also expanding to countries like the United States, Canada, Bahamas, Jamaica, and United Kingdom, where it already ranks within the top 10 most-watched non-English language series at the moment.

Ángela tells the story of Ángela (Verónica Sánchez), a woman who appears to live a happy life with her husband, Gonzalo (Daniel Grao), and their two daughters. But beneath that idyllic surface, Ángela hides a personal hell of abuse. Constantly on edge, her fragile balance shatters when she reconnects with Eduardo (Jaime Zatarain), a former high school classmate to whom she is immediately drawn. However, thanks to the intervention of her best friend Esther (Lucía Jiménez), Ángela soon discovers that Edu is not who he claims to be.

The series is produced by Buendía Estudios Bizkaia, in collaboration with Atresmedia. Atresmedia Sales is the international distributor of the title and will be present at the upcoming edition of MIPCOM in Cannes with its own stand, R7.J1,
