Apple TV has reportedly acquired the adaptation rights to the fantasy novels set in Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe.
Under the deal, the Mistborn series is planned as a feature film, while The Stormlight Archive is being developed as a television series.
The Cosmere is a vast fictional universe spanning dozens of interconnected novels written by Sanderson.
Mistborn is a fantasy heist story centred on a young woman who joins a group of thieves plotting to rob their world’s Dark Lord. The Stormlight Archive is described by Sanderson as his most ambitious work, exploring war and political intrigue.
Brandon Sanderson is one of the most prolific contemporary high-fantasy authors, having written more than 70 books and sold over 45 million copies worldwide.
He was selected to complete Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series, which was later adapted for television by Amazon Prime Video.
The author has also drawn attention for his highly successful, Kickstarter-funded publishing projects.
