Netflix has renewed the comedy-detective series A Man on the Inside for a third season.
Starring Ted Danson as retired detective Charles Nieuwendyk, A Man on the Inside is inspired by the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent.
The first season follows Charles as he goes undercover in a nursing home, searching for purpose after the death of his wife. In the second season, he investigates a suspicious scheme surrounding a major donation at a university. Across its first two seasons, the series surpassed 45 million views by the end of 2025.
When Season 2 premiered, creator and executive producer Mike Schur said: “What we did in Season 2 is try to level [Charles] up: make the case bigger and more dramatic, make the stakes higher, and make his detective work both better and also in some ways worse. That’s the great joy of a show lasting multiple seasons, you get to just add. All of Season 1 is at the foundation of Season 2, and 1 and 2 will be at the foundation of Season 3.”
A Man on the Inside remained in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for five weeks, and Danson earned Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and SAG Award nominations for his performance.
Season 3 is expected to further develop Charles’ investigative abilities alongside his personal journey.
