The jury members of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, which will be held in Utah, USA between 18-28 January, have been announced. According to the official announcement, there are 16 names on the festival jury this year. When the juries of the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Award are included, this number increases to 19.
The jury will reveal the winners from all five competition sections at an intimate award ceremony on Jan. 26. The winning films will then be screened in person and online from Jan. 27-28.
Among the jury members, Debra Granik, director of Winter’s Bone, and Emmy-winning producer Lena Waithe are particularly noteworthy. Christina Oh, producer of the film Minari, is also among the prominent jury members.
DISCOVERING AND PLATFORMING VISIONARY EMERGING ARTISTS
As for other sections, Shane Boris, Nicole Newnham and Rudy Valdez are the jurors for U.S. Documentary Competition; Jennifer Kent, Mira Nair and Rui Poças for World Cinema Dramatic Competition; Mandy Chang, Monica Hellström, and Shaunak Sen for World Cinema Documentary Competition; Christina Oh, Danny Pudi and Charlotte Regan for Short Film Program Competition; and Zal Batmanglij for the NEXT competition section. All of the jurors have also previously had projects at prior festivals.
“The Sundance Film Festival is known for discovering and platforming visionary emerging artists. We cannot do this without our jury, who so thoughtfully help us recognize and amplify the next generation of independent storytellers,” festival director Eugene Hernandez said. “We are thrilled to announce the talented, accomplished artists who comprise this year’s jury.”
The jury for the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize is Dr. Mandë Holford, Dr. Nia Imara, Matt Johnson, Theresa Park and Courtney Stephens, and have already awarded the prize to Sam and Andy Zuchero’s Love Me.
